I figure this is my best chance of getting experienced home birth moms. I am really on the fence about doing homebirth or birthing center. I toured the birthing center, which is a wing of a hospital, so emergency is close. The only thing is they don't let you push in the tub. I just have this vision in my mind of birthing in the water and being able to rest there for a bit while baby adjusts to being outside. Then there is always the fear of things going wrong at home. Meconium aspiration, shoulder or other positional dystocia, hemorrhage, etc. I think I am leaning towards birthing center, just because of those fears. Did any of you have bad home birth outcomes and regret it?
look into a different birthing center. lot of hospitals won't allow tub birth because of control issues (you can't see what's going on the whole time) I'm planning my at a center with hippie-like midwives and couldn't be happier. strive to meet your birth plan, don't settle.
nothing went wrong during my labor and home birth. I did it unassisted in water and it was an incredible experience. My baby is 3 months healthy and strong, she's been able to lift her head since she came out. keep that vision of your birth, your baby is telling you what he/she wants and you already know. it's not impossible, those fears and doubts are part of the process. I recommend checking out indie birth, it's a website that provides free information on all things natural birth, it helped me so much to alleviate those fears
We have limited options in Hawaii. This is the most mom and baby friendly birthing center on the island... @addi-maesmama I wish we had a hippie center to go to. The midwife I want to meet to discuss homebirth is an older hippie.
