@rockysmommy, I just googled it and it says the CDC recommends pregnant women get the TDAP shot sometime between 27-36wks ☺ so you're good!

@rockysmommy, I had to have a rhogam shot also, and I believe I got my TDAP shot at 30wks. It did have some side effects for me though. I had a minor fever and felt kinda sick for a few days, but was totally fine after that. Totally worth it because that is the only way that baby gets their shot also is through you.

I'll definitely ask I had to get the rhogam shot and it didn't hurt but when the needle went in

@rockysmommy, yeah you Def can still get it! I never had any problems after I got it ether I Mean the shot itself hurt lol I'd ask them about it I know some Dr's give it at different times

I posted a link about a mother not getting the vaccine and her baby now has it but my doctor never gave me a whooping cough shot and I'm at 30 weeks should I ask about it?

@paige1212, yeah I still have time to convince them but they're a little ignorant, they rather argue about it rather than learn the facts. If seeing her is important to them then they'll probably just get it.

Yeah I told my daughters father that he needs to have proof of vaccination or he just won't see her, but it's awkward threatening his family. Either way our babies health is more important than their opinions and feelings. @babymay2016

@babymay2016, exactly and I've offered to pay my for my baby's dad to get it done and over with! and if it's offered without insurance that's a pretty good sign that it's important and a lot of vaccines are wild nowadays but the tdap shouldn't be a big deal to get if people really wanna be around our babies if not then no problem they don't have to get it lol @maya.rose that is rough and I'm knda worried about the same thing I feel weird telling his family GET VACCINATED but I think if you explain your concerns they should respect your wishes you know? it's your baby that's a big deal whooping cough is so bad and even have them do research if they have any questions :)

@maya.rose, Well girl the best you can do is inform them about it and tell them they won't be able to see the baby otherwise. My baby daddy's family won't get it and NONE of them will be able to see my son. They made that decision 😕 it sucks but I gave them the option, gave them the info, and that's all I can do. When I got mine the doctor gave me a printout about it and that is what I used to explain it. If they are really upset about it, they can always still get the shot at any time, but they would have to wait 2wks to 1mth to see your baby. It is all up to you.

My best friend of 13 years is totally against most vaccinations but we talked about it tonight and she is going to start looking into it on Monday and make sure she has it! I get why people wouldn't get a lot of them... but this is how I looked at it... without health insurance there are a LOT of things you can't do right? But even without health insurance you can go to any hospital/pharmacy and get your FLU shot or TDAP shot. That tells me that it is important. Any person off the street can go and get both of those. My baby's father thinks it is stupid, and he can think whatever he wants but he will not see his son without proof and I have given him MONTHS to make his decision. I was even going to pay for it. My hospital offers it for $49.99 without insurance. I can't force him but his time is running out and that's on him!

@babymay2016, @paige1212 I agree with you both! My family understands the risks and will be getting vaccinated but how can I convince my boyfriends family that they need it? I hate saying it but when it comes to some things they're pretty dumb and they've never been asked to get vaccinated to be around a baby.

Exactly. I don't care about anybody else's feelings about it. I'm doing what I can to keep my son safe and I always will.

A lot of people think it is stupid, but I have done my research about it and made my own decision. I don't care if it is paranoid or whatever, I am making every effort I can to keep my son safe and anybody who disagrees can kiss my ass, and won't be seeing my son until after he is a year old. Unless my baby's father contact's me with actual proof that he has his TDAP shot, or lets me take him to go get one within the next month, he won't be allowed. I'm not just gonna believe him when he could be selfishly putting my son in danger. Fuck all thaaaat

@babymay2016, that makes me feel so much better! I know I'll end up pissing some family off due to religious reason I have a gma and husband who don't believe in any vaccine which that's just tough luck because I'm not going to risk my son's health just to save their feelings. I've only known them for like 2 months anyways they decided to take an interest in me soon as I got pregnant lol but people will just have to get over it or get out :)

Yeah it is definitely up to you to make sure that everybody is honest about it and knows to get it, because you're right I have heard horrible things and I will not take a chance like that. My baby's father "thinks" he has gotten it already, but unless he calls and provides proof of that, he won't be seeing his son, straight up. I also have family members who refuse to get it or think its stupid, and that's cool for them, but they won't be seeing him either. He is YOUR son and you call the shots momma ☺ I totally agree and only people who have this will be allowed to see him, even after we leave the hospital. Until he is 12 months old.

@babymay2016, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who freaks out about this! my son's father doesn't have it either but he better be getting on it asap too I've told him before and he doesn't act like it matters, he's gonna regret it when his sons born and he needs to stay away lol its super serious it's not like a little cold and newborns can catch anything but he doesn't get that

I'll definitely be telling all of them then! most of my family is in medical so I'm sure they will be able to get them or already have it (or they better) lol its nerve racking tho because I've seen so many horror stories about pertussis :( breaks my heart and I dont ever want to see my baby suffer like that because of something I could have prevented!

It isn't like they can just get it right then and see the baby. So you should notify your visitors ASAP so they have time to figure it out. My baby's father does not have it and it is up to him to get it ASAP. Lets say I go into labor tomorrow and THEN he gets the shot, he will still have to wait 2weeks to 1month to SEE his son!

You can definitely do that, but I would notify whoever you wish to visit you of that choice beforehand so they have enough time to get it before baby is here. It takes at least two weeks to really be in your system and safe to be around baby. I plan on this also but there is no way of really knowing if they have it or not unless they get confirmation from their doctor or have the papers. I made sure that all my immediate family and close friends know, and they now have about a month to get on that, or they won't be seeing my baby!
