Not really mommy related but kind of, just venting...

As many of you know or if you at least follow my posts then you know that I'm a recovering addict. I'm almost 8 months clean from all substances. I regularly attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings. After moving home from Fall River (the city I got clean in) I lost my network and my old sponsor.

I have been struggling lately because I haven't been working the program that I need nor did I have a sponsor to confide in. Well, tonight I asked a fellow woman in recovery to be my sponsor. We actually went to high school together but we weren't friends and she was 3 years ahead of me and she just had a baby less than two months ago.

I'm excited to restart my step work and my journey with her because we have a lot in common. I feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders finally getting a new sponsor and feel like I can move forward in my recovery. She is someone I can see myself growing with and vent to about pregnancy problems and addiction problems all in one.

Currently, my goal is to finish my step one by my year clean anniversary which is August 19th.

I feel really grateful tonight and positive. Hopefully that I can work on myself so I can be clean, a better person, and a good mother to my son.

Just for today, I will be unafraid. My thoughts will be on my new associations, people who are not using and have found a new way of life. so long as I follow that way, I have NOTHING to fear.
