There are things u can do prior to prevent it. idk what kind of labor u are having but if u can avoid laying on your back then do so. that causes it more than anything because u are working against gravity and also lots of warm water

I had 3rd degree tears with my 1st and I didn't feel it due to the pain of pushing was much worse and no I didn't have any medication. But honestly you tear in places you didn't even know could tear. I didn't just tear from my vagina, I tore inside and up! The after pain was manageable but I couldn't sit well for a few days

You're going to bleed for about 4-6 weeks after giving birth so I would stock up on some overnight XL maxi pads.

Yes I had an epidural. And yes with the pad/pantyliner as long as it doesn't stick

Did You Have An Epidural? & Would You Recommend Wearing A Pad/Pantyliner While It Heals. I Want To Be Prepared lol
