В ожидании первенца

I have a question for all my short mamas out there: How did you ladies adjust to driving with a growing belly?

I have a question for all my short mamas out there:

How did you ladies adjust to driving with a growing belly?

I'm really concerned about my safety and wanting to talk to Toyota to either quote me on pedal extenders or disable my driver airbag.

As long as the seat is back and not up to far the air bag will still hit more towards your upper body. No matter what you do you will be in contact with it if you get into an accedent...but having one not there is more unsafe rather than having one there. If you are a safe driver and awear of your surroundings then you shouldn't worry to much about it.

@aydensmommy2016, wouldnt sitting higher put u in direct line of the airbag?

I'm 5'2-5'3 and am 34 weeks today and have to make sure that my seat is back enough for my foot to still rest on the floor and I can touch the pedal...I have to have the back of my seat back a bit or my belly is touching the wheel. I found it's easier if I wear tennishoes or something with a bigger heal that way I can touch the pedal without just using my toes. I was also told that if you sit on top or a pillow it will help a bit to make you go a bit further and up a bit so you can reach the pedal without your tummy hitting.

I am 5'2.5 With my other two boys I was huge with them, they were little though. I reclined and that was fine for me but as I got to the end I didn't drive. Hopefully this baby I am not too big.

@aidensmommy, 4'10".. i think i'm pretty proportioned with short legs n short arms, which are both not useful with a growing belly. i tried moving my seat further back last night but i will try keeping the seat closer today but reclining the back a little

how tall are you ? I'm 5'5 and my seat is a little farther back then that because my belly isn't that close.

@aidensmommy, that's with my seat all the way forward. I think I was slouching tho

@aidensmommy, thanks for the reply.. i sit up straight cuz it's better to breathe hehe but at the rate my belly is growing i think i'll be closer to the steering wheel way before 36weeks

I'm 36 weeks and it doesn't make a difference for me. I don't have to have my seat all the way back either. I sit up straight (cause that's how I'm comfortable) and it doesn't bother me. I'm not too close or anything :)

@reina_den, it didn't make a difference for me it was at the point were doing everything was more difficult like 32 weeks with my last pregnancy. My hands could reach the steering wheel but my tummy was in the way. I was a passenger for the rest of my pregnancy.

@suprise4, i'm 4'10" and I still have space between my belly and the steering wheel but there's a lot of stupid drivers out there and i'm just worried about airbags deploying and crushing my belly n chest. I moved my seat back last night n was driving with my toes

I'm 4'11 I stop driving when my belly rested against the steering wheel.
