Ok yaw dumb question alert. So I notice people who have bassinets. Is that a requirement plus a crib? Does it temporary replace a crib? Is it the same thing as a crib?

I have both but I've been using the bassinet for now then switching to the crib when she gets a little older

It's good for transporting baby in first few months, but baby outgrows it pretty quickly. I would say a crib is a better option because many can even turn into toddler beds and grow with baby .

It's basically like a crib but one you can move around so if you wanted to lay your baby down to sleep they don't necessarily have to be in their room to sleep.

I've been told that it can be a replacement for a crib until LO is 4 or 5 months old

Not really. Well mine isn't. A pack and play would probably be better for out of town trips.

Guess it just depends on which one you buy.

It's an added bonus. I did not have one with #1. I did have one with #2 but baby didn't stay in it because our room at the time was too small. This baby WILL have one because my bedroom is almost 1/2 my house. I have a whole nursery (crib, changing table/dresser, rocker) set up in my bedroom and all our dressers, night stands, and a king bed so I am getting the cradle (instead of a bassinet) so I don't have to go across the room every 2 hours nursing. I'm lazy.

I don't even use mine. A crib is fine. My daughter sleeps in my bed. You kinda decide what works best after they are here

I used a pack and play with both my babies just until they moved to their rooms ( when they slept through the night) I nursed and just wanted to grab feed change and put back to sleep I never even turned a light on.. We got down to business .. This baby will use a halonest just because I got a sweet deal on it and this baby will be a c section instead of vaginal like I had with my first two .. It acts as a co sleeper .. I'm looking for easy

Like that idea @10yearslater0205 I don't want me baby in my bed because I'm scared of rolling on her or a pillow suffocating her or even her getting dependent but I want her really close to me so if o need to rub her I can straight from my bed

its just more convenient to have your baby sleep next to your bed so your not constantly running to the crib in the other room.
