Any breastfeeding mamas that can give me some insight on it? How does it feel when you first start? This is my first baby. I want to do breastmilk for sure but not sure if I want to do skin to skin. I'm kind of leaning towards just pumping and bottle feeding him
@mellmell, yeah I just use some from Walmart. they have organic but either works and will help with stretch marks too
np and just message me with anything else. I've very knowledgeable with lots of things! just message me anytime!
I'll definitely ask my doctor about them the next time I see her. Thank you @mygiftof2016 you've been a big help!
and yeah when you have your baby they'll send in a lactation consultant she can help with lots of things!
Yes the natural way helped me personally. I never had to deal with them after my first baby after a week of using store bought I started doing natural lube. way better for me. you can get them anywhere really Wal-Mart don't be scared to ask the pediatrition or your ob/gyn person. they may even have free samples!
your hospitals lactation consultant will be your best friend and will give you alot of information.
@valereleo, any kind of coconut oil? I know there's like organic and other types of it
@mygiftof2016, I've never heard of those. Do you know where they sell them? Did the breast milk help with the cracking more than the store bought stuff?
also there are a lot of products out there but all I ever did was self lubrication to prevent cracking. I simply released a little breast milk on my nipples and rubbed it all over the arola n all (all the Brown of your nipple) after feedings and for the first few weeks in between until they're "weathered" and used to bf
it hurts at first and I found that coconut oil worked better than the Lanolin but after the first week it's not bad and I've found skin to skin easier than pumping. it can be tiring though if your baby wants to eat a lot.
oh no I'm having my 4th. ask me anything anytime! theyre little plastic pieces you put over your nipple while you feed. theyre used when people have inverted nipples to help feed or prevent dry cracked nipples but some people use them to have their own "personal space" but still breast feed.
Nipple guards? what are those? Sorry I'm still learning lol @mygiftof2016
it's actually a lot different once your there doing it. nature kkinda takes over at that point. of recommend trying it but hey if that's not you that's not you. pumping is better than nothing. also they do make nipple guards too
Thank you ladies! @hlanc4 @mygiftof2016 @summerbaby89 @tiffrae definitely something I need to think about alot more. I do want that bond with my son but not sure if I'll be comfortable with skin to skin
I thought it was so weird but them nature took over and I was ok with skin to skin and actually it's very beneficial for you both but like I said not for everyone.
but that's not for everyone. doing anything you feel compfortable with is fine. pumping you may have to suplement though depending on your supply. good luck with any decision you make.
it can b slightly painful but its rly the best experience ever, its the closest you will ever be to your baby, its so natural and the bonding is amazing, if your going to breastfeed, u might as well do it all the way, its a beautiful thing and there's no reason not to, that's one of the things I'm rly looking forward to the most
skin to skin is best. it will promote your baby to grow and feed better. just having your baby latch on will help you produce and help their sugar levels.
@mellmell, do what works for you no right or wrong you want to pump and bottle do it you want to formula do it! Beginning is always hard use lanolin cream on boobs even before you get sore or cracked (won't hurt baby or milk) just be confident in what you do and you'll be all set! Good luck and congrats
Skin to skin creates a unique bond between the two of you. I nursed and bottle fed my first daughter for 18 mos and I'm so excited to do it again. Just try it out I'm sure you'll love it. Good luck.
