So I finally got a second opinion if my baby boy really needs a circumcision because of the little foreskin being too closed and he really is going to need it. he's a month old now. Has anyone's else gone through circumsion with a month old baby boy or older? Are they in lots of pain? I need help getting through this it's killing me!
@mommastone, same here! yes, they work together. I'm going to try and take my poor baby in to a different doctors office the thing is they don't want to see him anywhere unless I pay out of pocket because he has his doctor. idk it's just stressing!
That's so odd! I'm not professional but it rubs me the wrong way. And the second opinion was from the same office?
@mommastone, no I didn't mention it at all. both doctors noticed it and right away told me I have to start slowly pulling it back every time I change his diaper, which I didn't agree with. and they were pretty rude about it, all they said was "then you need to circumcise him because he's going to be having problems urinating later" and this subject is brought up every time his ped. sees him. I hate it!
And I remember another post from before and you were told to pull the skin back?
my son was in the nicu till he was 26days so wasent circumsised till he was a month there so little babies don't remember
Okay so the "ballon" effect when peeing is normal as long as it doesn't give them peeing problems. It shouldn't hurt.(my husband is uncircumcised). But just saying, not a lot of guys are uncircumcised and if you asked a lot of guys who are they would say they would rather not be. I think unless he's hurting that's it's fine how it is but I guess you got a second opinion. What exactly did they say?
I don't notice much of a pee hole either and my son isn't circumcised. The doctors said it was needed or just a "just in case" thing? It's a whole different thing with them not being circumcised. So you just thought it looked odd and brought it up to the ped, or they seemed concerned? I'm just wondering if it's needed! I've never heard of what you have heard of about toddlers and their foreskin doing that.
@mommastone, his little pee hole is super super closed. Like its literally the size of a pinhole almost. He seems to pee okay but idk. I heard of boys having trouble peeing later when they're toddlers, as in they're foreskin blows up like a balloon and releases urine very slowly and Idk if that's painful?!
Unfortunately he will feel the pain whether he is days old, months old, or years old. They are humans and despite people saying newborns don't feel pain the same, they DO! In fact, they can be even more sensitive to it at that age, and studies are now showing that babies who feel a lot of pain early on will percieve pain differently for the rest of their lives, they will be more sensitive to it! I would say if the doctor's all agree that it NEEDS to be done for his safety, go for it. Because if he's gonna run into problems then you don't want that for him. But if there's no real NEED for it right now, just wait! They will numb you when you're older and give you pain meds to go home with, they don't do the same for infants. Either way, on the advisement of his doctors of course, it is YOUR choice in the end and you will make the right one for your boy 😊 good luck!
