I am 2cm and my cervix is still tunnelled not thinned out at all. and I've been contacting for 3 days now. It sucks. oh and this is baby#6 and taking the longest to arrive

I know plenty of moms who dilate in the early stages of labor.. Tons of them. So that's not entirely correct. @ilyric

@ilyric, I'm a first time momma & I've effaced and dilated already ☺️ my OB said it was very normal for FTM, at my appt this AM. It's so neat seeing our bodies progress throughout this last phase in pregnancy! I'm so excited about it!

That's not true. I know plenty of mom's dilating before active labor starts. There are 3 stages of the labor. The first stage is early labor that can last weeks/days/or hours and that's usually when you begin to dilate. Some moms also don't dilate at all before delivery. @ilyric

at 36 weeks I was 5-6 cm dilated

No dilation, no effacement.

First time mom's usually don't dilate or efface until active labor. The stations are where babies head is positioned and it can change any time before delivery

At 36 weeks, I've been delivered for a week.

@jessica415, 1 cm dilated and she said -3 which I'm not sure exactly what that is. My dr is sweeping my membrane next Tuesday.

My son was born 35 weeks , my 2nd was born 37 weeks and my last was born 36 weeks . With my last I was dilated to 5 and got sent to hospital . My 2nd I was dilated to 3 and she came 4 days later

I didn't dart dilating till about a day before I had my daughter

1 1/2 cm dilated 80% effaced

I was a finger tip! And not effaced yet
