@wiccanmommy, my doc told me to try them and that my milk was in because her weight was good so I should try to only feed every 2 hours not on demand anymore.
But if you have a thumb sucker you want to for sure try your best to get them to use a pacifier. Eventually you can take a pacifier away you can't take a thumb away.
the ones they give at the hospital or the gummy ones. on amazon you can get a bunch for cheap they come lavender flavored vanilla flavored and plain. my son loved them so much and he was breastfed for 6 months

Ideally none. Everytime you use a pacifier is a potential to increase your supply.
