I'm due in a couple weeks and want to breastfeed this baby. When would be a good time to pump because I only plan on taking 3 weeks off from work? Also what can help to possibly keep my supply up?
I try to pump after nursing but it never works out. You should try to look into it they pay for 4 weeks before birth and up to 6 afterwards and another 6 in paid family leave if u could continue on that income
@myliltadpole1116, I did not look into state disability. I have a medela pump in style. Do you pump right after the baby finish nursing?
@lovemy3children, sorry to be nosey but have u looked into state disibility ? It's not much but it's something to help pay bills so you could take a little more time off? In order to keep a supply u need to pump every two hours , just as often as baby would be nursing. If you don't it will decrease because your body doesn't know that you need it to keep it up. Ask to see a lactation consultant when you deliver or afterward and they can help you get a pump through your insurance and show you all the in's and outs of how to keep your supply up if u have to go back so soon.
I'm only a sub para educator so I don't get paid leave. @kimberlyyyy
Usually it's not recommended to pump in the first 6 weeks because you could end up with an over supply which sounds good in theory but isn't when your boobs clog up and hurt. Why are you only taking 3 weeks off?

Starting TWW. Anyone else?
I had a stillborn daughter at 38 weeks this passed Nov. This is my second month ttc. (Last month we only tried for like two weeks though). My last and only pregnancy, I got pregnant the first month of ttc so I hope it's quick this time again.
