how do they check you to see if you've healed at your 6 weeks postpartum check up?

I honestly didn't make my PP appointment. I totally forgot about it but I talked to my doctor over the phone and I was fine. I had a little tear so the next day after me going home, they had to do an appointment for my son and I had him check me. All he did was look inside my V and said everything looked fine lol
