I need some advice! How do I tell my mother that she will not be able to see my son? Her and my step dad are doing drugs again and she has done this to me my WHOLE life! She says she isn't but I can tell my just talking on the phone with her. My husband and I both agreed we didn't want our son around that and grow up like I did. My oldest brother is already keeping my nephews from her and I want to do the same. But how do I tell my own mother she will not see my son. I try telling her that she needs to get clean before we have anything to do with her but it seems like it doesn't even phase her. Should I have some family members talk to her too?

@laykstonsmommy, I can only imagine. Here's the thing though, sweetie, any mom would keep their kids away from drugs. You are not telling her anything- you are giving her a decision to make where she must take it seriously and react accordingly for the health of your baby. It's up to her to respond in the manner she wishes and for you to hold strong to what is right for your baby since your baby can't defend it's self.

Thanks, it's just hard telling your own mom she won't be able to see her grandson but I know that I have to do what's right for my son @rgaine

@laykstonsmommy, No prob. Just do what you know is best and you will never regret it. In life we make the best decision we know how at the time and right now it's time for you to be a better mommy than she was able to be for you.

I have grown up with it and I know it what's it like. She was clean for over 5 years before my step dad got out of prison then she started doing them soon after I moved out. But thank you @babybonbon

A lot of the time an addict will never see where they're wrong. My father dealt with multiple drug addictions throughout my life and put my brother and I in danger on several occasions. She has to want to clean up to fix herself for you and your baby. It's better taking care of your growing family and communication with other members to just relay that over.

I'd say one close family member so thAt you know you tried everything and she doesn't think you're just trying to embarrass her. Maybe have the discussion with the family member like the aunt with you as back up to the excuses. Stay firm and repeat- if you do this, then x happens. Your choice, mom.

She is on meth and she has now my middle brother doing it now. I keep telling her that she has to pass drug test for me and she brings up im your mom I should have to take drug test. I just can't have my child grow up the way I did. @carlismommy12

I don't know what kind of drugs she's on but if its something like meth...talking to her is pointless. she will make excuse after excuse. When its close to the time of your delivery just tell her she can't be around until she can pass multiple drug tests. Just be firm. (Also remember if it is a hard drug like meth or coke etc, touching the baby can put it in the baby's system.) My cousins baby had more drugs in her system than her parents....just by them touching her. Its horrible so don't back down.

I have told her that and she just says how do you even know I'm doing drugs when I never come and see her, when my aunt tells me all the time she is and I can tell by just talking on the phone with her. She has an excuse for everything @reaganmommy2015

I would talk to her. Just tell her that you grew up with her on drugs and that you don't want that for your child make sure that your talking to her when she isn't on any drugs
