Not trying to take over ur post @stephhhx3 but since we're on the topic I would like everyone opinion. My MIL is 70 she gets around pretty good goes to ymca daily & to mall all the time. She is the only person I really have here that could babysit. Shes nice and we get along but I'm super girly lovey type that talks baby talk to any kid under 5 she is totally opposite. Pretty grouchy most days. I'm trying to get her sweeter and excited about the baby arriving in sept. She didn't want a girl and told me that which I thought was rude and she got her wish it's a boy so I feel she should go above and beyond bc it's a boy. My husband is only child and he and I both wonder sometime how he survived i mean shes not crazy or anything but just don't make logical decisions some times. His grandma took care of him every day after school for years in her late 60's early 70's and she relied on her so much for my husband. About 5 years ago she would make comments like I done raised my kids I'm not raising anymore. But 5 sec later say when r u going to have a kid yall r getting old. If yall had a mil like mine would u let her babysit. Also she asked me about 2 days after We told her I was preg "did you find a nursery" I was like um no. Then she offered her 79 year old sis to babysit right In front of the lady.

My mother in law is in her 50s and father in law in his 60s my son who is 4 is just fine when alone with them even when they go out. Also my 68 year old grandmother is raising my 2 year old brother who she adopted alone.

I think my son may have stayed over night once, but never more than 4/5 for the same reason. her pain meds begin to wear off. but he's pretty well behaved don't have to worry about him getting into stuff or whatever. when he was a little younger she use to worry but everything was fine

@0816mommy, they have watched my son a lot. Just never took him anywhere by themselves. They never really watch him over 4 hours cuz they complain they are tired. Which just makes me nervous about them taking him out

grandparents, great grandparents are the best.. my son loves going to my Grandma house for some reason.

my grandma is 65 and watches my son. he is six now. but she's no where as agile as she use to be, due to having a bad case of rheumatoid arthritis.

@suprise4, I guess it's cuz it hasnt happened yet. I trust them. But I'm scared my son won't listen and take off. My FIL has a bad back and can't even walk good. So I told my MIL that if they were to do anything that I would feel better if they both were there. & ive never been away from my son so that gives me enough anxiety 😩

My grandmother was in her 60's when she kept my children while I worked and went to school. they were toddlers then, and even though she couldn't keep up with them, I knew they were safe, She took them to the store and ran her errands with them. It's a matter of their physical health and your trust in them.
