baby boy is 3 weeks old he only stays up for like 5-10 mins at a time to eat. is there something I can do to keep him up my right boob is hurting but I don't want to pump in case he wakes up and then wants to eat.
true. that probably alot for you mommy. cluster feeding periods sucks. it's tiring. and you the only one able to do it. Good luck hun. @ray42812
@babylove11416, nope my son eats every hour to half hour. Through the day and every two hours at night but I was told every two hours even before I was making milk. Even with my daughter 4 years ago got mad at me because I didn't feed her for 3 hours. Told me I had to wake her up. Ppl have different rules I guess. I just let mine eat when he's hungry.
@ray42812, every 2 hours is an odd number. Unless that's when he's hungry, I see and was told 3-4 hours for eating. if baby want to eat for X amount of time, then keep him up to drain your whole boob.
my daughter is 6 weeks old and when she falls asleep I just rub her side or the small of her back and she wakes up
The lactation consultant told me he shouldn't go more than 2 hours without eating. So I guess as long as you feed him at least every two hours he should be fine. Every time he falls asleep just try to burp him or undress him a bit to make him wake up and switch boobs and let him eat more.
@ray42812 I'm just worried because we have to take a long ride tonight and I don't want him to be staving while we're on the road
@babylove11416, it does sometimes. He's a mamas boy. He won't spend 5 minutes with someone else. I end up just sleeping next to him so I can pull a boob out and let him eat while I rest. They're only little for so long so it's worth it
