Does your mucus plug have to come out in order for your water to break?

You can lose it and it can regenerate too. I lost mine at 36 weeks and didn't ever go into labor. I had to be induced. My water broke on its own and I didn't lose my plug again until it broke.

No. Some women don't even have one. I didn't have one with my son

No. and a lot of women lose their plug without realizing it. It'll fall into the toilet while they use the bathroom.
