@mamajohnson3, That is actually inaccurate. 37 weeks is now considered early term. New research shows that babies brain, lungs and liver are still developing around 39-40 weeks. SO many 37-38 weekers that were medically induced, c-section, or otherwise had intervention ended up in the NICU over the past few decades that they realized something was up. Not to mention the studies that show later developmental problems for children born earlier than 39-40 weeks. I am glad your babies were healthy. But for the moms who just want it to be over at 36-37 weeks, is it really worth that risk?

Both of my boys were born at 37weeks both healthy but my oldest I had to be induced due to complications and my body naturally goes into labor at 37weeks with my now middle son. 37weeks is considered full term and baby is safe and fully developed

@jana.bear, @karnamarie I literally cried myself to sleep for 3 days after they told me they wouldn't let me go past 36 weeks. The possible developmental and medical issues both at birth and later on terrify me and it breaks my heart that my body can't do what it needs to.

It's sad that society today is all about rushing and instant gratification.

It's so so so scary the number of women trying to force things along way early. unless there's a medical emergency it shouldn't even cross anybodies mind.

Grass is always greener... I know what you are saying. I have a cousin who CAN NOT carry babies past 28 weeks... Her first she went into labor at 26 weeks and he almost didn't make it. Her second they kept stopping labor but at 28 weeks they couldn't stop it... thank god both babies are healthy little boys but not everyone is so lucky. I was pregnant with my first at the same time as her second and she cried and wished she could have carried her babies as long as I did
