what are your thoughts on smacking a 6 month old?????? (i didnt do it my sons dad did and im pissed off)

Heres an idea..how about he put the game down for a bit while holding his child. Smh...

He slapping his hand because he reaching out to touch something he has no clue to or what is? Thats what babies do they touch feel and taste things to learn. your son just being curious to what it is he doesn't know any better. That's like you slapping your SO hand for touching something he reaches out for, how would he like that? He a little baby he shouldn't be laying a finger on him period that would personally make me upset if my husband did that I'd take the damn controller and toss it I would agree with some of the comments here record this issue if he is to ever lay a finger on your son again be sure to report it

@thebaileys thats just crazy of course he is going to reach for stuff, he had the controller right there... any child would've reached for it. Hopefully he realizes that he's wrong and no dont do that works just fine

I didn't realize it was the first time and it was the hand until after I posted but I would make sure it was know that the next time it happens a call will be made and I would document it somewhere.

Slapping his hand isn't "child abused" ^^^ but at that age they don't know better, I read this to my husband and he said it thought it would be cute if our son tried to grab the remote, he would try to teach him out to play not smack him. I understand when he's older snacking his hand when he shouldn't touch something that could hurt him. Okay hold on, my snack is probably different, a lite smack nothing that could turn his hand red but to startle him. But I personally don't think it's child abuse.

@rgaine, I'm not gonna get the cops involved since this was the first time it happend. Now if it continues to happy I'll call them. @hermommy @momagainjj82 I did say no at first, but then that came out after it... I just don't want my son to get smacked at this age. And he thinks he needs it right now or he'll never learn he said..

It's child abuse pure and simple and I would call the cops to make sure there was a police report.

I def think a firm no would have sufficed. He's a baby, of course he will try to reach for things. I totally understand why you are upset.

@hermommy, I grabbed Max from him and told him "smack my fucking son again I'll make sure you won't ever see us again" and he got pissed at me and said "he needs to learn" What does a 6 month old need to learn???

your better than me, Joseph wouldn't have a damn face if he were EVER to smack our child.... I hope you picked Max up and told your SO he was wrong and he better never do that again, especially over a damn controller

@hermommy, my son was on his dads lap and he was playing a video game so max tries to grab for the controller and his dad smacks his hand and i look at him and my son looks at me an cries.

I'd be furious!
