QUESTION....PLEASE HELP: I'm a FTM my baby was born Friday night & tonight I look over & a family member is giving her a bottle of water...just water...I've never heard of doing this...is this okay?!?

I actually remember an article where parents were Givin baby water and less formula because they couldn't afford it. baby passed away. parents were tried for murder. babys can't have water that early speak to a doc but nothing should go into her digestive system except formula or breast milk for at least 4 months
@mom13, I agree, sometime you can. Ask your daughter though.
OMG none of the people here are doctors pls speak to a professional about this because some of the replies to this in my opinion are just plan rude and unacknowledged
no not okay! it can mess up their electrolytes.
Plus sometimes the bacteria in water can be toxic for newborns. Some people say that formula water (which is basically distilled water) is ok but that isn't either. They need their nutrients.
That person doesn't need to do anything for your child without asking. They should never do that again
your baby needs nutrients, not just water, if the baby needs anything at this time it is milk, either breast milk or formula, nothing else at all.
nope, its not some doctor say its okay but other say no because if your breastfeeding your milk already has water!! but if concern ask your doc everyone will give you different thoughts @emberlynnsmommy
Newborns aren't supposed to drink water. Tell them never to do that again. It can mess up the baby's stomach.
