Argh. Long rant here. I'm not trying to be a complainer or say I know everything, but I KNOW women…

Argh. Long rant here. I'm not trying to be a complainer or say I know everything, but I KNOW women here can relate.

Since around 14 weeks, my husband and I have put X amount of money each pay period (bi-weekly) into baby stuff. We celebrated the end of my first trimester with a pack of newborn diapers. That was literally all we started with. Gradually, we have accumulated everything we can possibly think of that a baby will need. The kid has a fully furnished room! 😂 Including clothes that range from newborn all the way to 6 months old (6-9 size if you want to get technical).

Now, of course I have documented EVERYTHING since I've been pregnant. Including all of the stuff we buy him and put it into my son's baby album on Facebook and keep the pics on my phone. I don't want to miss a beat. My mom didn't even get an ultrasound of me, so I am documenting everything in my pregnancy to look back on.

For some reason or another, when it comes to all the clothes we have bought my son, people keep commenting or joking that he will only be in a newborn size for so long and I need to buy bigger sizes too (we have all kinds of sizes thus far-not just newborn- as I said earlier). I have even labeled the pics saying he has enough clothes to last him the first six months of his life and still people think I need suggestions on this shit. Or they keep saying "Oh, he may reject this so make sure you keep receipts" or "Make sure you use this on him and not that." I FUCKING KNOW!!! I know he can come out and reject certain things or be allergic or not want this or that or whatever!!! No one knows what he will or will not like till he gets here! Also, he doesn't just have newborn clothes, socks, bottles, pacifiers, diapers ETC! We have dumped an ass load of money into different sizes, different pacifiers, different sized diapers, different size bibs and hats and everything else in case he doesn't like or can't have (or won't fit) certain items! We may be first time parents, but we aren't fucking idiots. We have a PLETHORA of different things he will need. Not just banking on one thing.

As my husband said in his exact words:

"Do these people really think we are stupid? We have a successful marriage, successful careers, a house over our head, cars in the driveway, bills paid on time and a budget we stick to every month. How many people our age can say that? (He's 22, I'm 23.) We didn't need your guidance with our financial decisions, our marriage or taking care of ourselves, so why would we need people to constantly remind us what we should be buying for our child?"

We aren't trying to be boastful. We have worked hard together in our marriage in all aspects of life. I'm just really fucking tired of people trying to tell me what I should and should not be doing in preparation for MY baby. Personally, I read the books and learn about my child, I read articles on best ways to budget and what kids need to thrive. I educate myself as much as I can to try to prepare myself. The only thing I can do how is wait and see what he needs from me and I do the best that I can to provide emotionally, mentallty, financially, etc. I'M going to be raising him the best way I can. Please! Shut the fuck up already.

i am doing this exact thing and people (some of which don't even have children) try and tell me what i should focus on getting for my child! i know very good and well what i should be getting my child. i don't think anyone should tell someone what they should and shouldn't be doing or getting for their baby. well said mama! people these days think that young couples and parents lack common sense or something. my sister had 5 kids which i helped take care of since i was 10! (she's 19 years older than i) people really shouldn't assume or try to stick their nose in anyone's business.

@temp, Yes! You have experience before even having a baby! It's like, just because you are older does not negate the fact that my experience (or yours) is going to be the same as theirs! Especially when you see how well I have done on my own. I didn't need advice for any other aspect of my life that I've been successful in or otherwise. Don't start chiming in and telling me I'm not being smart when it comes to my own child.

Baby girl, do what makes you happy! Plus you will save SO much money preparing ahead of time. Yes they only stay little for a while...but they also make messes and spit up and need photos taken. Clothes are a must!!! Better to prepare ahead of time than wait last minute and not have it. I applaud any preparations made. Babies deserve to come into the world without missing a beat. 💖

@melina.a.613, Absolutely! everyone's experience is different and no one has the right to judge. i read and see so many things where moms bash each other for their choices or what they do for their child when they really have no reason to judge, you are doing so wonderfully for your baby! it's fantastic how well you have prepared:)

@tayek, Thank you ❤❤ I completely agree! Babies need us strong mama's to try the best we can!

@temp It's a shame. We are all trying to figure this new life out in our own way-and a lot of people don't have support like I do and they are still killing it! And thank you, I have an awesome teammate who is a big help in this preparation.

ugh I totally get how u feel! with my son my mother in law was ALWAYSSSS saying I have enough Newborn , I shouldn't buy him ANYTHING until he's here cause idk how big hell be or what hell like. I bought pacifiers and she HAD to say why would I even buy them if I don't even know if my son would like them. the most annoying shit ever and it was nice to throw in her face my son was In Newborn for THREE months and LOVES his pacifiers ! & mostly everything we got has worked for him!! yes I had to give away a pack of diapers because I got different brands and 1 brand my son couldn't use but that's it everything else was perfect ! I'm glad I did things MY way because if I would have listened to her I would have waited for a welcome home shower she was supposedly throwing that NEVER happened.

You honestly just have to ignore everything everyone says I'm on my second baby and still get all of that like its my first it's really annoying but I just blow it over my shoulders and ignore it
