I had a doctors appointment today and my doctor says I have to lose weight before my next visit (in two weeks) I've always been very self conscious. my thinnest was 150 and that's because I would starve myself or make myself throw up the food and I would push myself really hard on the exercise. Now I'm over 200 and I feel disgusting and my doctor makes me feel worse. I eat portion sizes and I don't eat alot, I drink plenty of water. I used to be a vegetarian but my grandma said that wasn't good for the baby. now the doctor says I can't eat meat, sweets, or anything fast food. I haven't been exercising because I've been so tired and it hurts to even do the dishes. but now I want to start exercising again. how hard can I push myself?

Truthfully? I've never heard of an OB telling a pregnant woman to lose weight. To maintain, try not to gain much, but never lose. I think I'd ask for second opinion.

Don't push yourself. But walk a few times a day. Look up a good pregnancy workout. If your dr is telling you to exercise it's not to make you feel bad but to make sure you are health for the baby. Eat more veggies. Even fruits have high sugar content so try to eat less of that too. It's all for he benefit of your baby.

@mommagotbump16, I've never heard of them saying that either. I gain 20 pounds from 9 weeks to 30 weeks and he said the next time I see him, I need to have dropped some pounds.

@twinscomingsoon, he's not telling me to exercise. I told myself I'm going to exercise. he told me to stay away from meats, chicken, carbs, sugars, fast food.
I'll look up some exercises thanks.

Exactly, and that weight gain is normal (sometimes they'll tell you to gain less but they would've known that at the beginning). Seriously though, I'd go for a second opinion. Telling you to be healthy is one thing, but I'm iffy on hearing "you need to lose weight." @aidensmommy

@mommagotbump16, I thought I was doing good. at the beginning he told me I could only gain about 20 pound until the third trimester. I'll get a second opinion. thanks!

@aidensmommy, odd. Def get a second opinion. Don't stress yourself about it. Maybe just change up your diet.

Your doctor seems like he's being too harsh on you... so don't feel bad because he is an asshole. It's all about quality not quantity when it comes to food. just eat every 3 hours or so small healthy meals. As far as exercise I always exercise while pregnant I just wasn't lifting more than 5 lb weights during my first. I would get really tired so I would nap for an hour, eat a banana, walk 3 miles and do exercises like 4 sets of 30 of different exercises. I would do squats, lunges, donkey kicks, leg lifts and arm workouts while I watched TV if I didn't do them earlier. I was really into fitness at the time though so dont over due it. Just walk 3 niles a day and do some squats.. walk 1 mile morning then later on and so forth.. or whatever you feel comfortable with. I used to weigh 265 lbs and dropped 75 or 80 before I got pregnant with my first so I was still on the hefty side.. but I was never treated like that or told to lose weight only that I probably wouldnt need to gain more than 15 to 20 healthy pounds.. I would see a different doctor if I were you... don't feel bad about it either you're going to be healthy and have a healthy baby. Definitely don't starve.

I wouldn't listen to him since doctor only goes by the book
