Question: how much is the blood work test that tells you the gender? I'm on state health insurance so I'm sure it doesn't cover it, but I have three friends getting it done and finding out way early and I'm dying to know what my baby is 😫😫😍😍

Whatever makes you happy ☺️ I only did it because I wanted to know if baby was going to have any chromosome disorders finding out the gender was just a bonus for me 👍🏻

Mine wouldn't cover it unless you were high risk or over 35 y.o. I paid to get a private ultrasound at 13 weeks 5 days for gender, it was only $60. I've heard of the blood tests being $400+ and doctors probably won't do it if you just want it for gender. Doesn't hurt to call and ask doctor though.

@taylornelson, they didn't mention the gender part either until I decided to do it, said they dont like telling moms that BC then they get it for the wrong reason lol idk if the CVS test is the same thing or not but its possible BC the genetic rest wasn't covered by insurance either

My doctor told me but you could always call the insurance company to double check. And don't do the CVS gender test it's not 100% accurate like the blood test. Cvs(pharmacy) test is more just for fun

@mommyagain324, they asked me if I wanted I think it was a CVS test and I declined it because she said it probably wasn't covered by insurance but she said I could change my mind any time. I'll have to ask how much it was. She said nothing about it telling me the gender :(

yeah wait it out then do a big reveal. .your friends will be jealous and wish they thought of that

@rebecca072816, it seems most people who et it are high risk and my doctor said in very low risk. @maddiemommy I might just have to be patient and wait until then ☺️

before then the genitals won't show up so the blood test may be your best bet

I'll definitely ask then, would I have to call my insurance or ask my doctor? @drmurphy13

I got the genetic disorder blood work done which also tells you the sex, $25 and still haven't gotten billed. that was over 2 months ago.

I live in crappy Tx lol (born and raised in Alaska) I am high risk because I have high blood pressure plus I've had preeclampsia and gestational diabetes in a couple of my past pregnancies.

if it's progenity it's only $99 and they don't send you the bill for it for like 6 months so you have time to pay it. ask your docs office before getting it though

Would you recommend getting it just for the purpose of finding out the gender or am I being impatient? @jadestarlight

I imagine that would depend on the office.
