I'm really starting to have anxiety about caring for a baby girl. I have 4 sons so this is a big deal to me. How do I do a proper diaper change? I know the obvious wipe front to back, but that's about it. What's normal, what's not? I just read about possible bleeding and discharge?? 😳 Any words of wisdom?
I'm sure I'll figure it out @rgaine I may shed some nervous tears the first few times though. :).
I have been using regular wipes since day one and haven't had any issues honestly. So that could be totally up to you :)
Thank you @primerose99. would you say it is ok to use unscented, sensitive wipes or should I go with plain water and a washcloth?
My daughter never had any bleeding but she did have some discharge. Just make sure you get in all the nooks and crannies, be extra gentle, and definitely try to wipe inside her little private area especially when she poops because you don't want an infection inside. And obviously like you already said front to back. I had a boy first, so I know what you mean by how you're feeling but it isn't as hard as it may seem. promise! :)
@onemoretime, No tears, honey. Your instincts will help on this one! I was a nanny for a long time and it's really not hard! You know the parts since you have them- just use your common sense, go front to back and use a ton of wipes until you feel comfortable if you need to. When in doubt, use water wipes or a wet cloth. Almost all the kids I've watched are girls and the mommies used store bought sensitive wipes and all were ok!
