Okay, exclusively breastfeeding mamas who haven't used bottles! I have a question that you can only answer, because my girl has never taken a bottle or pacifier and that's important to the question...I'm not too worried yet, however I know that by 1 year of age she will need to learn how to use a sippy cup, I'm not in a super big rush because I want my supply to stay up by feeding her at the breast as much as possible still, and I don't have a pump anyways. She'll be 6 months on the 24th so until 1 year I plan on keeping breast milk as her main source of nutrition as it's supposed to be. The trick here is, how do I teach her how to use a sippy cup? She has a tongue and lip tie that has stretched through lots of patience and latches only on the breast because of it...and she doesn't seem to get the concept that booby milk can come from her sippy, that she has to tilt it back, or anything, and she always spits out the milk if I help her and gives me a gross face, even gags like it's gross to have breast milk from the sippy...any types of sippies that work best for this, or should I put a different liquid in it because of her association of breast milk comes from breast only??

Have you tried the sippy cups with soft tops/straws? That's what I used for my son because the hard plastic was too hard.

@m0mmylanie, the one we have has a rubber tip, but she doesn't get the concept of drinking out of it lol....haven't tried the straw kind, we'll have to find one! Do you recommend any brands and where to find them?

Maybe try one with a rubber straw, that way she doesn't have to tilt it. It took a lot of different sippy cups for my son. We had to figure out which one worked for him.

My guy never took a bottle or pacifier. He also had a lip tie. We introduced straw sippy cups around 9-10 months and he took to them right away. Our favorite is munchkin brand with the weighted straws! He also wouldn't take breastmilk from a sippy, so we did water. He breastfed until 15 months and then just had sippy's with water. He never ended up liking milk (breast or cows) from a sippy cup so we just made sure he had other dairy in his diet per his pediatricians recommendation. He's 21 months now and will take almond milk in w cup.

Thank you so much, I was feeling so pressured by her old fashioned doctor to have her on a sippy cup, now I feel so much better knowing I can wait a lil longer! I will definitely look up that brand of sippy and see how she does!!! Thanks again for the help!!! @kmally

Of course! The munchkin 360 is another option but since my guy wouldn't tip the cup he didn't catch onto it until recently. Definitely don't feel pressured to start a sippy :)
