I'm 38 weeks today, and I'm really freaking out :(( it's my first baby and don't really know what to expect for delivery. I been watching alot of videos on delivering a baby but it doesn't help. it makes me more scared idk. I was so happy and thrilled for delivery, I still am of course but the anxiety has kicked in hardcore :'( I know I shouldn't feel this way, I'm such a big baby I'm so scared :'(

I felt the same way when I was pregnant. The closer I got to my due date the more anxious and scare I got on what to expect. I stopped watching videos because those will just freak me out more. When I was in labor all I read and everything I learned in classes got erased from my mind. Thankfully I was only in real labor for 3 hours, 2 pushes and babygirl was out. All I can say is stay stress free, I was very stress so my contractions were really painful. Dr said the less stress I am the less the contractions will last. Short labor but I suffer for those 3 hours. Everything went so fast I didn't even have a chance to have an epidural or pain medicine which I'm glad !! Good luck girl, everything is worth it onces you see your lil one in your arms !

i didnt tear but had some abrasions. try massaging the perineum everyday. theres videos and pics online to show you how. its supposed to help stretch the skin so you dont tear

@sorayma11, I was labor for 22 hours and pushed for 3. the last thing on your mind will be tearing. I torn and its not to bad. the only thing I was thinking about was getting my son out of me lol. all of it will pass once it's time to push. I was excited when they told me I was at a 10.

@sorayma11, do whatever you feel is right! epidural was great for me because it allowed me to rest. its hard work pushing a baby out when youre exhausted!

me either I've never been scared of that just for some reason the closer the day comes I been imagining the babies head coming out anf i get scared. iguess once I have my first baby the second one will be easier to emotionally handle. I've heard first baby is the most painful I think this delivery for you won't be as bad It will be nice to have a natural birth. that's what I was going to try to go for but maybe next time

yeah i know what you mean, its scary to think of all the things that could go wrong but medicine has come such a long way! not everyone has an easy birth without complications and if something does arise just have faith that the delivery team will know what to do. its their job and they are trained to notice warning signs and how to handle it if things start shift. you could always go think about the what ifs but thats just going to drive you crazy! and you dont have to get the epidural if you don't want to. but its nice to know its there just incase! @scc2413

I've never really been scared of how babies come out but I have a horrible and irrational mind sometimes and always think the worst possible thing is gunna happen. I've had no complications or anything but I'm always thinking what if something goes wrong at birth. That's my biggest problem right now is not thinking positive like what if everything goes perfectly fine. I'm really nervous since I have 4 weeks or less but I'm so ready for him to be here. Physically I'm drained, always tired, more things are starting to be really uncomfortable such as sleeping but other then that it's not horrible. I really wanna try without an epidural but if I absolutely can't take it anymore I'll get one.

thanks @cleeg , I guess I was just super freaking out because I was thinking about not getting epidural but your right. I want to enjoy the experience of having my baby, not wishing it would be over . I'm definitely going to get it now lol

yea forsure. everyone says it's not that bad and goes by quick for most people, but just the thought of a baby coming out from down there has always been scary to me, lol. I never been so scared for anything in my life I know it'll be worth every second of pain but ... I just need to get over it being anxious and scared won't help one bit. I just got to stay positive, that's the only way @scc2413 , your pretty close too how do you feel? any concerns ? are you getting epidural? I know it sounds dumb but I'm mostly concerned about getting stitches lol scary thought of getting torn up

@scc2413, @sorayma11 everything will be okay ladies! this is my second and i still get anxiety from time to time. very nervous to go through labor again but its one of those things that has to happen. there is no stopping it now. its painful but its good to know there are options for pain if it becomes too unbearable for you. i got the epidural last time and i plan on getting it again. it was nice to be able to relax and actually enjoy the birthing experience instead of writhing in pain wishing it was over. women have been doing this since the beginning of time. trust your bodies. i was in labor for 18 hours which seems like such a long time but it will pass and in the end it will all be worth it. try not to stress out over it too much. you can do this! 💖💖💖

I was just thinking the same thing. The classes didn't help at all, I've watched videos but like you said, those don't help much, and I've read books that still don't do anything. My biggest help was talking to friends that have recently had babies and kind of take all their experiences in and kind of generalize how it is even though every birth is different.
