Is it weird for me to get Ava a black queen t-shirt? She's had a lot of self esteem issues at just 5 years old, from asking me to paint her white, to asking me to straighten her hair so she could like everyone else. I don't know if it's politically correct to do, since even though I'm Spanish, I am her white mom.

Your daughter is gorgeous. She has model potential. Maybe you should look into some inexpensive modeling agencies just to boost her confidence. I think my mom did that for me when I was younger. It pretty much woked until my light skinned younger sister happened to be waiting around at the agency with my mom. They saw her and were more interested in her. Lol

Yes it is heartbreaking because she's beautiful!!!! But I know how you feel I have a 7 year old who thinks that your not pretty unless your fair skinned , long hair and skinny . Pretty much Barbie . And I'm trying to teach her self love and worth ! @ceeasquared

She's been seeing and learning that from somewhere. Probably TV or school. There's no reason that she should have self esteem issues at such a young age. Teach her that she is perfect the way she is, I would definitely get her the shirt and let her watch videos or what not of black women that give empowerment!
its perfect I think. teach her about both sides of her ethnicity. its so sad that she's only 5 and feels the need yo change herself. she's beaitiful

I think it may be a little weird if she's not black . However , you should definitely teach her to love herself and the skin she's in. It's so hard with our girls these days . The idea of what's cool , or pretty leans hard on them . @ceeasquared
I say go for it girl!! Kids are so mean these days and my nieces father is black but her mother is white and she is going through the same thing!
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
