All research that has been done is from pregnant women in Brazil. It's causing smaller heads and brains in infants. They don't live as long because their brain doesn't fully develop. Because it's just been recently discovered here there's nothing they can do. So far only ONE case has been found to be transmitted sexually. Takes up to 2 weeks to have some symptoms, then 2 weeks to cycle through it and then 2 weeks for it to be out of your system. It's not a recent discovery it's just recent in the US @mrsgeorge @orrwhat @savahannah @youngg.mommyy

I'm due in May but it still scares me as well! Seeing those poor babies scares me! I know there has been cases in the US but its more common in other countries.

I'm not sure I'll have to ask my doctor about what to do my grandma says she uses that skin so soft stuff from Avon her doctor recommended it because she would get ate up by mosquitos due to her getting hot and sweaty and stuff from her medicine and she says that works for her @orrwhat

I'm worried too, all they can advise us to do is wear long clothing and use certain bug sprays because apparently the mosquitos that carry zika arnt effected by certain kinds. They are recommending some with deet, but I thought that deet was considered harmful to pregnant women?

zika is scary. but if you look up the stats it's actually a very low chance that it will cause a birth defect, which is good news!

I hope so because I'm honestly scared I don't wana go outside at all this summer for that fact @orrwhat and @youngg.mommyy it's a virus spread by the bite from an infected mosquito or from sexual contact that can be passed on to your baby during pregnancy and it can cause birth defects and I think it causes the baby not to live as long due to it it's really scary

I've just been researching on the cdc website and apparently they can find the virus in semen, saliva, urine and sweat. It takes about a week or two to completely clear up and everyone effected does not have symptoms. What I have been waiting for is a report released on what gestational age zika will not effect so we know if we get infected after a certain stage we will be ok. Hopefully they can release some more information soon

Well I just heard about the sex I didn't hear about it being transferred through kissing I just watched the new and the doctor on there didn't say anything about that @orrwhat

It's any bodily fluid so kissing too..

And now apparently it can be transferred through sex I told my boyfriend that if he gets bit by a mosquito I'm not doing anything until the baby is born I mean maybe I'm acting crazy but I'd rather be safe than sorry @orrwhat
