I am feeling a bit nervous and hopeless right now... just gave vaginal birth few days ago...
I'm having problem to pee by myself so my doctor had me on catheter 4 times and can't still go everytime they take it out...so she decided to sent me home with a foley and will be taken out after 3 days.. but this one hurts so much.. like I can't even move and walking is horrible... I have this burning and sharp pain down there.. but my doctor still insisted me to come with it she just gave this one time ointment thing to help ease the pain and said I have the pain down there because they inserted catheter so many times it might have irritated and said the pain will go away eventually.. so I still went home with a foley after a couple of hours I started to feel the pain again, I can't sleep through the pain so that morning I went to ER and have them taken it out..
now I am nervous and hopeless because since they took it out I only peed so little, I feel nervous something might go wrong with my bladder..and hopeless I won't pee again and have to be on foley again.. (sorry for my writing if its confusing)
@nurseriri, oh god I wish you were my nurse 😭😭 I just found out today that I am positive from UTI.. the last time they cath me was very painful I was crying in pain when they put it in..I can't even move my legs or any muscle down there.. I told them that it's very painful but they said that just how it is that it'll go away so they just put some numbing ointment when I went home.. but after a couple of hours it wears off and I was back in pain.. so they next morning I went to ER and got it out.. it felt a lot more better... there was urine in the bag it's just very painful around the area they inserted it and inside of it..
@izner14, did they do a bladder scan to see if your bladder is full? When they straight cath you the four times you mentioned did you have urine? If yes maybe you're retaining. While the indwelling was in at home was there urine in the collection bag? Now that the foley is out has the pain subsided? Sometimes when the foley is inserted the balloon is Inflated too much which can cause discomfort. I always make it a habit to ask my patients if it's uncomfortable. Also it's a possibility that it was too big. You had a post void even if it wasn't a lot so that's good. But they need to do either a bladder scan and or a ct scan to see if there's any blockage. And from there they would decide the best intervention. Maybe a GU consult but sending you home long term with an indwelling is usually a last resort for the potential risk of UTI. You're already at risk cause of the multiple times it was inserted. Feel better.
they did scan my bladder and told me I wasn't emptying my bladder... so they had to put back in.. they're thinking I wasn't trying because I'm just afraid it'll hurts because of my tearing... but I told them I am trying it's just that I can't pee I have the urge but I can't pee and if I did its only a little and it burns.. but they kept saying the burning is from my tear..
