Elliot has his circumcision at 11. I hate this part. All I can think about is how my first screamed bloody murder when they brought him to me after his circumcision. I feel guilty knowing he will be in pain afterwards, not to mention probably scared shitless during. The nurse just told me that they wrap their top half in a warm blanket and strap their legs down for the procedure... I feel even more disturbed knowing this is what he is going through. I'm torn over if this is truly the right thing to do, even though my first son had it done and it's largely a cultural thing in the U.S. It just feels wrong. 😢💔

more than culture. It helps with preventing infection also. Do what you believe, the earlier the better. He won't remember :)

He got the circ. It looks good. He is uncomfortable and not happy, but it's done. The doctor did a good job.

I've seen circs done. It's not as bad as you think, if that helps. Usually baby is sucking on a paci dipped in a little sugar water so they can soothe a little bit. The nurse is usually at the head comforting baby too. The ones I saw never had a hysterical crying baby-maybe some tears at the end, but not crazy in pain. My son wasn't happy when he got back from his either, but I think it was more being separated from us because he calmed right down. Hope he's still doing ok!!

@eternalsunshine4, you're welcome!! I've seen a lot of moms slamming circs for "putting babies through unnecessary pain," so I just wanted to put it out there. 😉

@mommagotbump16, I have never really read too much about it. I've been told by my non USA native friends that it's uncommon outside of the US. I just remember how awful it was for my oldest after his. It traumatized me more than him, I think. Lol I'm so sensitive!!!

It's incredible rare outside of the US. Even the US's rate of circ is down to about 50% at the most recent polling.
