Is it possible for a baby to eventually develop a good latch? My baby is almost 2 weeks old and from the time of birth she wouldn't suck when she latched. She has a really small mouth she was barely 6 pound when born and was born 2 weeks early. I tried everything between shields and the shells (my nipples are pretty flat unless I pump or they are stimulated) and I was so frustrated I just cried for days because I couldn't give her what I knew she wanted. The nurses were no help because there was no lactation consultant on staff my whole hospital stay. So now I'm exclusively pumping but still bringing her to my breast when she is calm trying to get her to latch. But we're still having some

I have flat nipples too. I would pump for a few minutes to bring the nipple out then he latched til his mouth got a little bigger. good luck momma
Yeah I've called the one the pediatrician recommended but she never called me back. But I'm on the hunt for others me antistevanmommie
Have you tried looking for a lactation consultant in your area? If you haven't you could they could probably give you good pointers even now to try to help her latch.
I have them and wore them everyday all day for a week and she still won't. Her mouth is so small she just has a tough time. -_- I'm holding when she's a little bigger she'll figure it out. We won't give up in the mean time. Just frustrating when I've wanted to breast feed so badly and it doesn't work out right away @logansmommy214
Go buy breast shields. My sister used them and they worked great. I'm gonna use them if I run into a issue with breastfeeding.
My doctor said he would induce my labor at 38 weeks, if my baby girl still had growth issues and if the percentile dropped to 10 or less. Last thursday, it was 10 percentile, and he said if she didn't come on her own by 38 weeks, he would induce labor at that time. I'm 36 weeks 1 day today, he said my cervix was super thin, and 1cm dilated. Is there a possibility this can change... that my doctor will let her just come on her own? I don't want to be induced, i would much rather her come on her ...
My August baby decided she wanted to be a May baby like her big sister. Madison Noelle was born on Tuesday, May 24 at 3:50pm, weighing 2lbs, 13oz and 14". She was born at 27 weeks and has a long road ahead of her. Every day she has been getting stronger and amazing everyone. Please keep us in your prayers, my family and I have a long road ahead of us.
