Haha you know what to expect this time too. Use coconut oil! Lol ...With my son I was already at 7 when I checked in and I really wasn't even sure I was actually in labor. I had him 2 hrs later.

@goldilocksn4bears, I love your outlook and opinion on natural births! I'm the exact same way and it makes me very sad for women who don't know there choices or anything about giving birth really. I'm pregnant with our second baby and now that we live in AZ it's extremely hard to get a natural birth! birth centers & home births here range from $3-5k... and the hospitals only allow you to labor in water :'( it's making things difficult for us this time around...

I was in labor for 15 and a half hours, start to finish. but honestly it didn't get intense until my midwife broke my water... so I really only count 5 of those hours. @goldilocksn4bears

@eimandin, You can check and see if there's a birthing center in your area. Usually it's a fairly small privately owned facility that has 10-15 different midwives. You get to know everyone throughout your pregnancy. The mid wife that I found she worked in a hospital for many years before deciding to go on her own. I trust her completely. At the center they have everything there like you would at home or a hospital. It's so cozy and peaceful and the tubs are huge. You also have the option to have your baby at home and they will go to your home. Honestly it's the most beautiful way to have your baby. I hate the business of having babies the hospital way. They do so many things you are unaware of and do not explain to you the real reason why. For example cesarean births are up to 50% now when before it was 10%! Especially during the hours of 4pm and 10pm. That's the time hospital staff want to go home. It takes 20 mins to do a c-section so the reason why the ob/gyn opt for this is so they can go home and they are not waiting for your body to naturally have your baby which could go all night. If you are induced they give you pitocin and you can bet your going to want an epidural because the (pit) makes your contractions so much worse. the drugs stress the baby and the babies heart rate goes down so then if you have not dilated fast enough at that point ... Guess what?! Your then told you need a c-section. If you decide to have your baby at a hospital I highly recommend you have your own midwife there for support and to be your advocate so you are fully aware what choices you have. I think we as women give the hospital too much power because we trust them as a professional but that's not always the case.

How can I have a natural water birth ? I mean should I prepare for this at home or at hospital?

You should definitely get a midwife then! They believe birth is a natural thing while doctors look at it as they need to cure/fix it. And they worry about lawsuits meaning if they see something might go wrong or it's taking too long they'll jump the gun. I was told this by midwives and other people I've spoke to. I personally love midwives, they are absolutely amazing. They have so much passion! @goal dilocksn4bears Also look into birth centers so you can avoid hospitals or medical centers.

I really want to avoid having a hospital birth. I hate how they do whatever they want to the baby after you give birth. I have a feeling if I end up giving birth at the hospital I will be the worst patient haha and I'm really not that way but I want my baby to come into the world peacefully and in my arms, not whisked away to be rubbed down and poked with needles.

also check your local hospitals. they may have birthing pools and if anything goes wrong you're already there.

Ask a certified midwife in your area. It might depend on your medical situation.Here in Nyc, I am high risk b/c of diabetes, so no midwife can legally attend my birth at home. No waterbirthing center would take me either for legal reasons. Hypnobabies hypnosis cds are helping me relax so my hospital birth is more likely to be calm & easy.

I don't know if I was low or high risk, I didn't see a doctor or midwife, but I had a healthy pregnancy and birthed in water perfectly. if you look on youtube you can find a few videos of women who were considered high risk giving birth in water and unassisted

I had a natural water birth but I had no complications. I was always told that if there was any complications or you wanted an epidural you can't give birth in the water though. I hope you get to experience it though, it was such an amazing experience. I'm hoping I get to have another with this kiddo on the way ☺️
