To invite my mom to the baby shower or not to invite her....
Things between me and my mom have never really been good. She walked outta my life for 5 years after I graduated. We recently reconnected 3 years ago and let's just say a leopard never changes it's spots. I've always found myself being the bigger person but she has constantly stabbed me in the back repeatedly. I always manage to find out that she's talking behind my back, she's tried to attack me in my grandma's front yard and goes around spreading rumors about me constantly. Regardless of all of this I called myself putting the past behind me once I found out I was pregnant. I called myself giving her the chance to be grandma but she turned that down. She wanted my child to call her "Sexy D" instead of grandma. And by me being tired and busy the majority of my pregnancy the only time I'd be able to talk to her and my sister was when I was at work. She got mad about that and went off the deep end, cursed me out, encouraged my 12 year old sister to curse me out and at that point I reached my limit. I cut contact with her and haven't spoken to her since October. Now my baby shower is coming up and my grandma and family are trying to guilt trip me into inviting her. They say I should be the bigger person and extend an invitation to her, she's my mother "Blah Blah Blah" but I'm tired of trying and I'm tired of being stabbed in the back. I don't want her negativity around me or my baby and I'm tired of everyone getting on my case about it. What should I do?

I believe that if you're questioning it, then you shouldn't. It might make her more mad but she isn't acting like a mother at all. Hope everything goes okay :)

I agree with @wisconsinmom I would tell my family that this is a special day for your baby and you don't want your mother making it a bad day. your a grown up. be respectful. but don't let any one walk all over you. YOUR NOT A DOORMAT...... praying all goes well

@wisconsinmom, I'm not inviting her because I don't need her negativity around me. She said "I'm glad I didn't get close to you so you couldn't bring a baby in my life to get attached to" I don't want her Yo-Yo-Ing in and out of my baby's life

@beezy_mcflyy, the same thing happened with my aunt. I didn't want her at my daughter's baptism because she treats me so disrespectfully and I don't need that in my life. She did talk shit about me but that's her problem, not mine. Best of luck to you.

@lakecturner, everyone keeps saying I'd be blocking my blessings and it'd be a shame before God if I don't include her and it's just too much! I'm tired of trying to be the bigger person all the time....

God is wonderful I love him very much. and he loves you. you DO NOT HAVE TO KEEP ALLOWING HER TO HURT YOU THO YOUR NOT HER DOORMAT..... God is not going to keep you from blessing for protecting your self or your child I promise. if your still not sure pray and see what God tells you.

I've had problem with my mom too..... so i can relate..... your a good mama just keep doing you and follow and honor God that's where your blessing come from

honestly it's up to you and no one else. I'd you don't want her there don't invite her. don't let anyone or anything ruin your big day
