I'm really torn on whether I'm going to breast feed or not. Like, I know it is beneficial to the baby and develops a closer bond. Its also cheaper and I hear it helps with weight loss after birth. I didn't breast feed with my first. I tried half heartedly for a few days but I suffer from severe depression and got so frustrated I gave up. Now I'm afraid that I won't be able to draw the line between the breasts sexual use and nutritional use, and I feel like breast feeding would be very uncomfortable for me. Not to mention how much I work and the frequency in which I'd have to pump. Any ladies feel similar at first and overcome it to breast feed?

@babyreeves I have been told by my breastfeeding consultant that it actually helps reduce postpartum depression, and if you have a good support team behind you you can definitely overcome anything you have doubts about!

I want to do what's best for my baby and I don't want to not do it because of my own selfishness, but I also struggle to see myself in that predicament with a successful outcome. I hope I don't get any judgement for it, lol. but thank you 😊 @hermommy

I haven't spoken to a breastfeeding consultant, I guess that would help. do you go through your obgyn or a separate professional? @bugandstomachebug One of my biggest issues with my first son and breast feeding was my lack of positive reinforcement from my ex husband (who was away for the military at the time) and my feeling of being alienated. I was also barely 18 and didn't know myself as a woman. (i had lost my virginity to my now ex husband less than three months before getting pregnant and it was a very sexually and emotionally, not to mention physically abusive relationship.

I plan to toughen it out babies where meant to digest breast milk better 99% of the time. I will have to pump quit a bit also, but I don't think there will be any confusion with sexual and feeding my baby it's a completely differnt feeling I'd think, just because of who I'm seeing do it.

@babyreeves, I'm sorry to hear that, at my hospital that I'm going to deliver at there is a consultant and I took childbirth classes with her. she was great and loves her job so when speaking to her it was so positive and reassuring. if your hospital doesn't have one try googling someone in your city, there's got to be someone that you can speak to and maybe even some online classes. I know they say if there isn't support it's just going to bring you down but you gotta try to stay positive with yourself also. and try facebook pages I believe there are many support groups that can help you through this as well! just know that there is always someone backing you! I know I am😉

I don't doubt that breast feeding has its own benefit to babies. I just don't know if I will personally be able to overcome the other doubts I have related to it. @aphrodite2014

@babyreeves, research helps me, but I'd suggest getting a lactation consultant and seeking out a therapist for afterwards that can kinda help you. a good support system is key

All you can do is try the best thing to remember is when you think about giving up just remember why you started. Even if it doesn't last long you have it you all. I breast fed my boys and plan to be my girl but I'm a sahm it's easier for me. I give a lot of credit to working moms who pump that shit is hard!!
