Trying really hard not to be upset, but I can't help it. OB wanted me off work last week to rest, and now my job is taking that out of FMLA leave! That's one less week I have of maternity leave! 😢

@lakilucid, according to HR the employers have the right to count it toward FMLA if you're gone for 4+ days under a doctor's care 😒

if that does not work..see if you have short term disability and just take an extra week under that because most likely your dr is not going to release you for work until 6 weeks anyways that way you still get paid.

@cnewell23, FMLA can be taken when needed intermittently anyway. You only get 12 wks per year, so they're taking it off of that. Meaning even unpaid, I can only be on maternity leave for 11 weeks before I have to be back or else possibly risk my job. Paid leave counts during FMLA time, not in addition to it. 😞

@mommagotbump16, my job is different... I get the 12 weeks FMLA but once I have the baby I will go under general medical(short term ) and I get 21 weeks for maternity

@cnewell23, Wow! Even our short term disability plan is only 6 weeks (and here it gets paid during that), long term runs 26 wks. We don't have a separate maternity plan, otherwise one week wouldn't be a big deal. It's great that your employer does that!
