I have a question for u mommies ... so today I seen to have gotten my period and is heavy! I was told that if u breastfeed u were not suppose to get it for a big while? any suggestions on why I got it??
@cookiemonster1216, wow that's good how did the supplementing go? I have had a big debate with my so and friends about doing that because I have not that much milk when I pump I just have like 2 ounces ... I'm trying the mothers tea and trying to eat rigth. but hopefully know that I will eat rigth and take my vitamins it will go away
It varies for everyone. I didn't have a period until 10 months pp, breastfed, but supplemented a couple times a day, and was on the mini pill. I had irregular periods between 10-13 months, then haven't had one since. I weaned at 18mo. Still haven't had one and it's been over a month. It can take a long time to get normal. My doc wasn't even concerned at all with my lack of period.
@b3autifulm3ss, see I'm irregular so I'm not sure how to track it but I downloaded and app if next month I get it the same then it will be back to normal . :)
@madelynnb, that seems to make sense my baby feeds but not on command so that's probably why... thanks
it doesn't work for everyone. if baby sleeps to long at night or doesn't feed frequently enough during the day you will get it back. look up lam breastfeeding. it will give you the run down of how it works
I got it exactly when I was supposed to after my pp bleeding stopped.... ebf too it just happens sometimes
I do have to say pumping isn't the best way to tell how much lo is actually getting. If you're concerned about if lo is getting enough, weigh lo, feed, then re-weigh to see how much lo got. Unfortunately that's one of the only ways to tell. That, and if lo seems hungry a lot, constantly wants to nurse, etc. I started supplementing because my dd wasn't gaining weight. I used Similac Breastfeeding Supplement and it worked great for us! She weaned off the bottle at 12 months, but continued nursing until 18mo.
