question for all you single mommies. would you give your child their father's last name even though you aren't together but he plans on being a part of the child's life?

i was with my sons biodad when he was born and i sooo regret giving him his last name. not only do people joke about it (its Goodnight, not even kidding) but i get sick of hearing it because hes worthless. lol
if he's going to be a stable parent for the baby then I would, or hyphenate it.
I regret fixing my son his father's last name,I should have given him my last name, now my daughter will have my last name but my son will still have his dad's,I wish we all just had my last name!!!
