I'm totally blown away by the questions big brothers, big sisters club had to ask! I'm not sure if y'all are familiar with that children's club, however its provided through the city here in New Mexico for children/teens. Its like a one on one for children, anyways They asked if I was okay with my son's big brother to be a smoker/drinker/gun owner on his own time!?!?!
I was like WTHECK!!!! NO.. ABSOLUTELY NOT!! and I kid you not, the lady was surprised that I didn't approve. I totally understand that its on their own time, but let's be honest.. IF I ALLOWED THAT, I BASICALLY ALLOW MY SON TO BE AROUND THAT BECAUSE THEY COULD BE DRUNK FROM THE PREVIOUS NIGHT/GET HIGH RIGHT BEFORE THEY GO ON AN OUTTING. AND TO TOP IT OFF, OWN A GUN!! NO THANK YOU!! Those behaviors aren't role models for our growing children, and I was so shocked to know they allow that type of workers to be employed and be around our children.
especially around my 9yr old son.. I just think a program like that should have good role models for our youth!!
I guess your both right, however I'm a sober parent with a long history of family members who've committed suicide that's probably why I don't agree with any of that!!
yeah you know teachers can own guns and drink beer and smoke so that's like saying your childs teacher is a bad person
I think the way they ask it makes it sound bad. Before I got pregnant, I smoked cigarettes and drank. But never when I worked the next day (except smoking. I was a heavy smoker but made sure I never stunk).
