You can drink while breastfeeding and yo no longer have to pump and dump alcohol metabolizes in the blood so when you feel sober it's okay to feed again, as with any drinking you should always drink eat well and drink plenty of water before and after drinking but while breastfeeding it needs to be doubled

@rachelirene, it depends on how much you drink, for me it's just a small glass of wine maybe 6oz? I wait around 3 hours until I don't feel buzzed at all, then I know it's safe. However like I said I always wait until she's down for the night anyways so she sleeps for 8 hours usually, therefore I know for a fact it's completely outta my system 😁

@rachelirene, I don't know what you've read, but I've consulted with lactation experts and read studies and yes, it's not good for the baby if you're drunk and feeding the baby, however it IS perfectly safe as long as you're sober. There's nothing wrong with it. Certain alcoholic drinks can lower supply, and I can see how that can be bad, but in fact it CAN increase your supply, especially the brewers yeast in beer it is proven to increase supply. That's fine if you don't feel comfortable drinking while breastfeeding, but please don't shame or judge us for it when we've done the research and know we are doing nothing wrong 😊

@rachelirene, so how exactly do you KNOW it doesn't increase supply?! I've breastfed TWICE & it surely does mothers in Mexico drink a beer when they need to boost their supply. & im sure all their kids are alive & well there is no formula in Mexico so they have no choice but to find other ways to get there supply up.

@rachelirene, & I'm pretty sure none of these mother are going to sit there & drink a beer WHILE the are feeding their child they're going to wait for the alcohol to come out of their system.

@rachelirene, alcohol leaves breast milk at the same rate as your blood, therefore if you feel sober it is perfectly safe to feed your baby 😊 I've had a glass of wine a couple nights after she's gone to bed, she sleeps for 8 hours straight, so there is no way there's any alcohol in my system by the time she's ready to eat again.

I always produced a shit ton more when I drank

@rachelirene having a couple drink once in a while is fine and your allowed to drink and breastfeed the only reason why people say you can't is because people can get drunk and smother their child while feeding or drop them the alcohol does not affect them unless the mother is getting drunk that's when you throw out the milk

I had some red wine a few nights in a row and I woke up super engorged, but I can't tell if it was because she was cluster feeding recently as well or because of that lol make sure to drink LOTS of water! Dehydration can be bad for your supply girl!!! Suggested amount per day is 8 glasses of 8oz water, so 64oz of water per day...I drink at least two 50oz bottles per day!!! Way more than the recommended lol and I still feel thirsty a lot!

lol yes every beer I drink I have to drink a glass of water after so I dont feel dehydrated
