so when i went to doc monday she put me on anit-depressant zolaf any other mommies on it can tell me a lil abt
@mommy2bof3n2016, I was prescribed Zoloft by a prenatal psychologist that my ob sent me to. I've been on it since November and baby girl and I are doing just fine with it. The benefits definitely outweigh the risks and I did a ton of research before starting them. I understand not wanting to take medications while pregnant, but modern medicine exists for a reason, so if you and your doctors feel that you may need them, it might be best to give them a try. I'll likely continue taking Zoloft when she's born, because I'm at a high risk of postpartum depression. I'd rather take a pill that helps balance the chemicals in my brain than end up harming my baby due to severe depression. Natural is great too though. Whichever you choose, I hope it works for you! :)
@mommy2bof3n2016, it's crazy how they'll prescribe poison for our people because the pharmaceutical companies make BILLIONS but they'll call CPS if you smoke the most natural, medicinal herb on the planet.
If your OB put you on them, then you need to trust your doctor. I was taking Zoloft before I conceived and my OB told me that if you CAN quit for baby, that's best, BUT if my depression/anxiety is severe enough to keep taking it because the stress on baby could cause miscarriage. Do NOT quit taking it without consulting your doctor. And if you have doubts, speak with your dr. Zoloft is considered a class C medication, which means that there has been little study as to how it affects pregnancy. Some studies say it may lead to autism, for example, but other studies say it absolutely won't. Essentially, not enough is known about it at the time where as there are class A drugs like Tylenol and benedryl that have been proven safe and class X such as ibuprofen and Xanax than have been proven unsafe. Again, if you have doubts, consult your dr. But if your OB put you on it, it was probably for you and baby's best interest. <3
wow really it was my o.b who put me them thanks ladies i dnt wanna take em pergo she said there recommended...i wish i could hit the bowl but cant till i have the bby@jesjeslovesyou im a medical patient i have my card this longest i aint smoke my o.b said if i kept smoking they would involve child protective services
Almost all antidepressants are recommended to be weaned by 3rd trimester because they can affect APGAR. That's why I quit my Prozac as soon as I found out. If it was your regular doc; please check with your OB. The risks aren't so severe that they will be lifelong and permanent for your baby. I can say if you can wait until postpartum (even if you're nursing)... it will be so much safer for you and the baby.
my ob put me on it too. I wasn't taking it a lot tho. only when I felt I really really needed it. I hate taking ANYTHING while pregnant. weather ob said it was ok or not.
I took Zoloft before and while I was pregnant, and my baby was born with a cleft lip and palate.
genetics clinic proved that to me.
