so my hubby thinks introducing solid food to our son will turn him away from my breast milk. For some reason he thinks I want to introduce it because I'm tired of nursing him which is completely not true I want to breastfeed as long as possible. When did you introduce baby food and what helped you make the decision?
we started organic rice cereal at 4 months and solids at 5 months. baby showed all signs he was ready. able to sit up unsupported and everything. doctor gave us the okay.
New research shows that you should wait until 6months and besides solids before a yr old is just for fun because babies are still getting all their nutrients from formula/breastmilk. My daughter is about to be 6mo and I'll be starting her on oatmeal cereal mixed with my breastmilk.
they say when the baby is able to hold their own then they are ready for solids, but it's recommended to breastfeed exclusively for the first 6 months to achieve optimal health for the child, it's really personal preference though
you can introduce solids between 4 and 6 months. I introduced my daughter to solids at 4 months per my docs ok. Breast milk will still be the primary source of nutrients for baby. In the beginning baby will probably only have solids once a day. as baby gets use to it you can increase it 2x a day then 3x. so breakfast, lunch, dinner. I usually nurse about 5-6 times a day and feed my daughter solids twice a day. I'll breastfeed first then when she pulls off I'll give her solids. Your pediatrician should give you some kind of pamphlet on age appropriate fruits /vegis to give baby as he grows. he's gotta learn to eat solids eventually! lol you should most definitely continue to nurse even when introducing solids.
