mommies help !
i'm a first time mommy .
i'm making a list of things that are needed for my babygirl . do any of you know a website or app tht gives a list of things ? because well im new & i dnt know what is & isnt needed . i dnt end up buying things i wont need .
coming from a mom who did the same with her first one, I regretted so much how much unnecessary money I spent the first few weeks/months trying to have all the name brand "best stuff." lol. don't get me wrong, some things are worth spending a little extra on. but not everything.
@babyreeves yeah i think the same .. but her dad wants her to have the best .. && okay thank you .
@cheeycheey okay .
Register is at store. You can probably register online, but I'm unsure of how their welcome package works that way.
I personally would not recommend spending a ton of money on fancy big name bottles unless your baby has colic or reflux. Generic bottles will do the same job as higher end feeding systems if your baby doesn't have special feeding needs. Wal-Mart also has generic formula, wipes, and diapers for sometimes half the markdown of their name brand counterparts that perform just as well, and contain the exact same ingredients and nutritional output. Spending extra money for babies to have name brand everything is often in vain when babies outgrow, over-use, stain, or just plain out don't react well to certain things. Its much wiser to be more practical about purchases.
@aidensmommy okay thank you . @babyreeves ohh i didnt know tht . register is on the app or at the store ?
That way, you can see how well the baby responds to that simulation before investing in a full feeding system ( numerous bottles, extra nipples, correlating pacis, etc. )
@elisagee, places like buy buy baby and target give little gift bags when you register that contain product samples and coupons. For bottles and pacifiers, they are full size products and work just as well if you bought them at retail.
Yeah, one or two boxes of nb diapers are good. They outgrow them fast! So you'll want more size 1 than nb.
I also find it wiser, if you are choosing to bottle feed whether breast or formula, to start off with generic bottles and finding samples of more expensive ones or buy only 1 at a time. Stocking up on expensive bottles can be a waste of money if baby doesn't like the nipple or stimulation of the bottle.
Babies quickly outgrow NB outfits and NB diapers. So it's wise to not stock up largely on those.
There's necessities, and there's must haves that make things move convenient. In my opinion, there are only three big must haves. A travel system, a sleep system, and a feeding system. So that means either a bassinet, a crib, or a pack in play. A carseat, and a stroller if you choose. And then a method plan of your preferred feeding. Bottle set, formula choice, or pump. If you have insurance, you can get a pump for free. From there, there are conveniences. Burp cloths or receiving blankets, baby towels, swaddle blankets, a swing or coaxing method (rocking seat, vibrating seat, baby sling, etc.) Nursing pillow if you are breast feeding, head support for baby placement. Baby monitor. Humidifier. Diaper genie. Bottle Warmer.
I was on Pinterest and it had a "10 things you don't need to waste money on for a new baby" list. They said you don't need a bassinet because babies outgrow them fast, just to stick with a pack n play until they're ready for the crib. They also said a diaper genie isn't necessary because who wants a weeks worth of diapers in their house?
@elisagee, you want to get something thats Free of perfumes. if you want something that still smells Good, get Dreft or Baby All.
i agree baby towels suck! lol they seem like they aren't absorbent enough..I'd just get a regular really soft towel and wash it in baby detergent
to wash baby clothes . no softner just soap ? @alynna9684 @jaaym_ && thank you both
You still have a few weeks don't over whelm yourself. Definitely the car seat and stroller and if you don't have a crib you can get a bassinet or sleep n play for the meantime until you can get a crib.
^ The problem with baby towels they don't dry well enough. There are towels that aren't so rough. And my drs told me special baby detergent.
@jaaym_ ohh , okay then thank you very much . i feel like im so behind ..
Babies r us gives you a check list. Some items though are things you don't really need but most of it on the must haves is pretty accurate.
