Has any mom's had trouble breastfeeding & does it hurt? I plan on breastfeeding an was wondering when my milk would come in?
it's only a little sore at first, it's not that bad. unless you have a bad latch & then it can hurt really bad. there should be a lactation specialist of some sort at delivery, to help you out throughout your hospital stay.
My son latched on immediately. So, no troubles with that. It did hurt for me initially but I bought nipple shields and that helped tremendously. Initially your body produces colostrum and after that usually 2-3 days your milk comes in. When you deliver they send you a lactation nurse to assist you if you have any troubles.

I had a ton of problems breastfeeding! my daughter wouldn't latch, and I didn't have a good milk supply initially because of that. Lactation consultants are a godsend! I worked very closely with them to boost my milk production and try to get my baby to feed from me. She rarely latched but when she did it wasn't painful, that was before she was teething though so I don't know if it will hurt later on. And wound up giving up on her latching and just pumped and gave her my milk in a bottle. your colostrum will usually already be there when you give birth or shortly afterwards. your milk comes in 4 days later. starting breast feeding can be hard but stick with it if that's what you wanna do :) its a learning process for both you and the baby.
