I always feel so guilty and selfish because I give my son formula when he doesn't get full off my breast milk and my boob is hurting just so that he can get full and sleep.
you don't need to give him formula, trust your body. Your milk runs completely off of a supply and demand and formula will only interfere with that if he's skipping a meal from you and getting a bottle.
Also if you can, try to see a lactation consultant. They're pushy, but they may be able to help!
My lo was 8.12 at birth, so a little smaller. But by 2 months she was well over 10 lbs. I hate when people say nursing shouldn't hurt, cause it does! Even if you have a great latch. I would recommend looking into nipple shields, those may work for you. But don't give up! You are doing amazing! And there is nothing wrong with formula, so I hope you didn't take my comment in a judgement way. But I really do promise it does stop hurting.
thanks @littlemissrainesmommy
and @unbecomingme he does nurse alot and I can usally keep up with him with his hunger but its when sometimes at night and hes crying and crying cuz hes hungry and my boobs are hurting and I t hurts when he latches is when I give him formula. my son will be a month on the 7th and come out 9.5 and I'm sure hes about over 10 pounds now.
If he's nursing a bunch, and that's why you're thinking he's not full, it's to build up your supply. I promise it does get easier. But you shouldn't be having to use formula... And don't feel guilty! He is fine! :)
if it hurts even when he's latched on correctly, look to see if he has a tongue tie, you can't talk to a LC or your child's doctor.
