I'm going to be TTC soon. I have a question though. I have no fertility issues so if I take a fertility medicine that produces more eggs is there a better chance of getting a multiple pregnancy or does my fertility not matter?
@jerseybecca, unless you have issues reproductively, they won't. Medically sanding, it doesn't make sense for the doctor to give you a reproductive drug when you don't have issues with reproducing. No regular Gyno OBGYN will hand you pills for fun. (That's the way they would look at this.) Now, if you want to go the route of extracting eggs, having them fertilized, and then placed back, you can find a specialist to do that. IVF. The average cost for one IVF cycle is about $12,500. Most couples with serious reproductive issues spend roughly $22,000 ( 3 rounds. ). A reproductive endocrinologist will probably do tests to make sure you're healthy before going forward with any plan. Compared to having one baby, twins and other multiples are more likely to have serious -- and even life-threatening -- health problems, including preterm birth, low birth weight, and birth defects. Therefore, it's not an area that doctors take lightly. Twins are 10% more likely to die of SIDS than a single baby And that is solely why doctors never want to directly try for multiples. Even twins. There are just so many risks for mom and for babies.
Obtaining fertility medications will be extremely costly & tricky if your doctor doesn't prescribe them. Unless you're having issues with infertility, they probably won't give any. Maybe try Cassava Supplement. It's like $15.00 and supposed to help with releasing more eggs per cycle 😊
