yeah the mesh ones seem like they are gonna work better, my other ones I couldn't get tight enough and they were still getting their legs n arms thru so last night was the first night with the mesh ones and they did great

that's what i read which is why i got mesh

babies have passed from being in boppy pillows cuz of their neck angle

You're right, but either way, it's still a death from a crib bumper. And the articles still say it could be a cause of SIDS and id rather not take my chances. @twinmamma2015

@autumn, if your child suffocates from crib bumpers then the cause of death is suffocation, not sids

there is no definite answer what causes sids, they're just guessing. if crib bumpers cause sids then they wouldn't be making them anymore.

we used a bumper later because my daughter would stick her arms and legs through the slates and one time her leg got stuck. early on, I didn't think it was necessary to use it.

i think its a matter of how u low u put it

if u put it low enough and in between the crib and mattress to where its just their feet level i dont think the risk is that high

i bought one @twinmamma2015 the mesh one if this baby is like my other two he'll move a lot so id rather have mesh than nothing at all

Bumpers increase the risk of SIDS. there are tons of articles on it. You should research it on the Internet. I was concerned about her hitting her head on the rail thing, but then there was the point made that it's better for them to get a little bump on their noggin than to suffocate. Do a lot of research before you make your decision. I decided it wasn't worth buying anything that has so many articles saying its a leading cause of SIDS.

it's preference. my boyfriend refuses to use one. but that's tough luck on him because one is going in our crib. last thing I want is to find my child with a bruise on his head or a possible splinter seeing that it's an old crib. I plan on buying the mesh kind and weaving it through the Bars so it's breathable and Incase he does get up under it, it's not by a lot

well I had the regular ones, but just got the mesh ones hoping they do a better job keeping arms and legs in. but according to the American Academy of Pediatrics as long as bumpers aren't pillow like there is no real evidence that they are a potential risk. just research it, although the mesh ones I just got seem pretty soft so only time will tell....

I was going to mention that. If anything those would be best. But you really have nothing to worry about with a newborn. If they are all swaddled up I can't imagine they would be moving around that much 🙂

I have them and they keep it from my boys bumping their heads on the crib and getting arms and legs stuck. I had that happen when I took them off to wash them, cuz I wash them weekly. and they were in their for a nap and woke up cuz one hit his head and it was a lil red and the other had his arm stuck in between the slats.

Crib bumpers are actually not recommended anymore. I took a class about newborn care and it's apparently a safety hazard. You are supposed to have nothing in your crib from what I've been told.

they're actually recommended against. I've never used a bumper for my son who was so long his legs would constantly come through the bars.
