Depending on the school/branch/job he should see if he can go immediately and be done with basic and AIT before the baby arrives. (Former military wife and was myself on AF scholarships/ROTC path)

I'm already 25 weeks though and I don't know how to push him to do it or what to do... @rgaine

I'm not a military wife yet but going to be. My husband is planning to join the marine corps to make a better life for the family and it's his dream. No matter what branch he join he will gone for awhile but when are you due? He should be able to do basic and AIT be done with it before the baby is born and before he can get you and the baby to go to his duty station. If you guys have concern talk to a recruiter it shouldn't take long for him to get started and be done. Best of luck :)

@amazing2014, Unfortunately he has to make the decision on his own. Just encourage him to check in on details so that he doesn't regret his decision and let him know you'll support him as long as you know he's making the best decision he knows how to make. Deciding the baby is more important than a dream or wish to do something isn't always bad and could lead him down another awesome path someday as well. :-)

I'm an army wife and a friend of mine her husband joined and went to basic about 3 months after their son was born. He didnt miss much his basic training was only 3 and a half monthes and didnt have AIT because he is infantry and they just kinda throw it all together in 3 months.

And im due im may and my husband has to go to California for train from the beginning of april until the end of may, so he might miss our child be born if they can't send him back on time. personally its all worth it to know that we are set for life witha wonderful career and a grwat support system from all the other wives and their families.

As a military wife i can understand what you are going through . My husband join the navy when we first found out we were expecting . He did three deployments in three years and missed birthdays and holidays. joining the military is not easy they will be times were he will be gone and miss out but you guys should have that xonvo and see the pro and cons about joining the military

leave the decision up to him. from a wife of 12 years. boys need to be responsible for their own life no matter what the decision. I will say it's hard in the family being separated from loves ones. maybe he'll decide to join when baby is in high school. he'll still have time no matter what he chooses but make sure not to expect him to do what you want or he'll be mad at you on the inside.

I feel like it will be worth it too. I didn't like the idea in the beginning but I know it was his dream. I think he should do it but he just says he doesn't want to miss anything @mgould0304

i think he should signing up and depending on what job he wants/qualifies for then he can take it from there because there might not even be an opening for a while and he'll have a year from the day he applies the decide whether he wants to go or not
