I had to use it. I tried lc after lc who told me not to, but couldn't figure out how to get my son to latch. my midwife whipped one out and it was like a magnet for him. after a few weeks, he actually took it off mid feeding and that was the end of needing them. I plan to stock up in advance this time since it was the biggest lifesaver
