Babies DO NOT keep relationships. The mother and father break up sometimes, but unless someone's a deadbeat, that breakup doesn't change their desire and willingness to be there for the child. Mom OR dad! I keep seeing all these girls (on here and in real life) who seem to think that the only way a child can have two parents is if the parents are together. STOP THAT, IT'S POISON. It isn't an all or none proposition.

I keep saying that people more focused on keeping this ideal family than trying to say hey let's make sure we can stay cordial and co parent and raise our child some girls are soo young they are more worried about staying with their child's father than getting their education

@jdrose, EXACTLY. I'm like, you can't breathe without this guy? You can't woman up and let that picture frame BS go? You're gonna cry and stress over somebody who probably isn't thinking about you? You'd rather stay and be treated like poop than move on?! It's CRAZY!!!

Well I'm really set on having that ideal family so we take a while for me to realize if it doesn't work. I didn't like having separate parties and my parents not being together while growing up so I don't want that for my son

@kazori, that's fine. Just don't poison yourself in the process. It is better for a child to have two whole parents than one broken unit. I'm not just preaching--I've been young and dumb, and I've been a single parent before. I'm married NOW, but I would never wish on any person the crap I put myself thru just trying to have that nuclear family. It's crap. If two people make a baby, they should raise it. Point blank. But if all you can think of is, "He should be with me because we have a child," then you are setting up for failure. I'd suggest some counseling, some prayer, and some internal reconditioning because those are the methods of tough love I needed to give MYSELF. I could NOT be half the woman I am now until I put my little mommy and daddy issues behind me. I'm adopted, so I didn't have EITHER biological parent. What I had was stability, and my parents did end up divorcing. They were better apart than together and that's all any parent should ever want, to give their child their best self. If mama is crying and running behind daddy all day, she's NOT giving that. If daddy resents being around, HE is NOT giving that. It's a little deeper than "I want" & ideal isn't the same for everyone.

I'd rather my son be brought up in a healthy environment than a "home" where the only reason we're here is for image. My husband would leave if he wasn't happy, and I would too, because we don't care about ideal. We care about what's best for raising strong, mentally and emotionally balanced kids. It's MUCH easier to build them up strong NOW than for them to have to repair themselves later.

My 9 year old LOVES getting two holidays. I guess it's cause her parents (her father and stepmother, and her stepfather and I) aren't still holding onto soul ties. *shrugs* People deal differently I suppose.
