I don't declaw cats, but due to apartment regulations I can only have declawed cats. so, I went to my nearest shelter and wouldn't you know it? cats that are declawed don't get adopted very often, so the perfect baby for me was there. I know I'll be able to keep him safe for the rest of his life. IF YOU MUST DECLAW, ADOPT A DECLAWED CAT!!!!!!! I'm a big adoption proponent.

My bf got his cat declawed but it wasn't his choice.. she got loose and the humane society she was brought to said she needed to be declawed and fixed before she can come home.. He bawled his eyes out for days cause he hated seeing his kitty in pain :(

I've heard of rescues losing their license after being found out to have declawed cats. It's seriously such a horrid thing to do 😢😢😢 I'm so sorry your be had to go through that.!

We are getting our kitty declawed only in the front because he too often hurts people when he plays. I don't think it's a terrible thing, it's something he can live without. I have done a ton of research and I feel like as long as you do it for the right reasons there isn't any harm in it.

Yeah there is a ton of research that says that but it's biased. Look deeper, is the source from a blog or an actual vet. There is a difference between a reliable source and a source. And I love my kitty, he's my world. I raised him since he was 5 days old. But when my nieces and nephew are leaving the house with scratches on their face, and we have tried claw training I believe my next option is to declaw. Never will he ever be an outdoors cat so that is not a concern.

I was informed that it was just a removal of their claws, like clipping their nails. But, I did my own research and I'm glad that I did. My kitty and I had bonding time everyday because I had to file her nails every morning until she learned to not scratch and to only use her scratching posts. She still ripped a giant hole in the bottom of the couch to play in though. 😂 but she stopped scratching people and ripping the carpet up. Long story short, I'm glad that I did my own research on it and didn't have to put her through unnecessary pain.

Train your animal, I have two cats both aged 3 and I have a niece and nephew that have been to my home numerous times. NOT ONCE have they left with a scratch from my cats, because I trained them. The info I bet you found is biased and printed by vets that condone declawing and want your money. What a joke. That was from the humane society and it was just the first of many things that popped up. I could find you a thousand more places that state it's bad. I refuse to believe you love your animal when you clearly are close minded to how bad it is for the animal. I wish your kitty the best and I'm very sorry for what you're going to put him through.

@breloya, every vet will tell you it's just like clipping nails because they want your money, if you use a vet that declaws, you should not be using that vet.! I'm very happy you did your own research and found it truly is bad for them and can cause major issues.! I'm so happy you did the right thing ☺️😻😻

I had a cat that was declawed, the "vet" who did it botched her paws her nails grew back but they instantly curled back into her paw pads.. We had to carefully clip them because we didn't want her to go through it again..

@losmommy, yea it was sad.. But it didn't bother her.. I'll never get a cat declawed again.. I was a kid so I didn't have a say but now I do!

I would adopt an already declawed one because every animal deserves a loving home but I definitely will never go and pay money to torture an animal.!

There are also claw cap things for cats. it just slips right over kitties claws, no harm.
