yess ^^^^ exactly what she said my nip nips was flat and not shaping the way they were suppose to. My nurse gave me the nipple guard and he suck on that and they formed great. Breastfeeding its going good now

Nipple shield it will work no matter what type of nipple. You can find them in baby isle at any store! It saved my life it's great

Aww. I'm sorry your having these problems. If you're determined to breastfeed, try and find a breastfeeding consultant. There is one at WIC offices if you're on WIC and there may be one at your little ones pediatricians office. If it doesn't work out though don't beat yourself up, if your baby is fed then don't every let anyone make you feel like you're a bad mom.

@audreysmama, @hitt_andrea @mommy_1115 yeah my nipples are like that too but I don't really have a nipple. they like taper into the areola and the whole area gets hard so when I use a shield it makes the area around it raw and bruised. that's how they are now so every time I try I wanna like cry it hurts so bad.

Nipple shields work wonders for flat or inverted nipples if that's the issue.

I have what's called flat nipples the nurse said it was going to be hard for me to breastfeed and I'm going 4 months strong... Don't give up 😊 try pumping and bottle feeding till you get the hang of it also (I don't know if you have wic) but wic offers a lactation nurse to help you and baby get into the swing of things

my nipples are inverted and I thought I couldn't bf buy I got the nipple shield and I was able to bf...you can get them at Walmart

yeah just keep pumping daily and eating healthy and drinking lots of water and it should come in. & if you aren't producing enough they make lactation cookies they sell at babies r us & they have lactation tea I think it's called mothers milk or something like that and the sell it at Wal-Mart.

It took about 4 days for my milk to come in. Until it did I used a nippel shield and that worked. It's just that once I got my milk in when I used my nippel shield if felt like she was getting too much at a time then she'd get frustrated and knock it off

@mrsstewart, @laurapurcell well I'm home now. I just got to take her home today but I got a pump through my insurance. even with that I don't do well. my milk hasn't came in yet and the colostrum I get is like non existent. I'm hoping my milk comes in soon and plenty. so I can just supplement until then. otherwise I have to stick to formula.

Don't feel bad it isn't your fault. Mine ate too small to feed and I hated it but I did pump so at least my daughter still got breast milk

@aubriesmommy, yeah I was pretty emotional about it also. I pumped for a little bit but I'm not anymore, but they say every drop counts. You could try pumping there because they will bring a pump for you to use there & you can feed her what you get before you give her the formula. that's what I did.

@laurapurcell, my girl too. I just want to do the best for her. it's probably still my hormones too but I started balling at the hospital when I had to ask for some formula after I gave birth to her. I tried the first day and a half and just had a lot of trouble

Don't beat yourself up over it. I wanted to also breastfeed but my son wouldn't latch correctly and would just scream his head off.
